What is the Not So Delicious Red Delicious Apple

Red Delicious apple is a clonally propagated apple cultivar, that means it was genetically created from many different apple varieties. The traits selected were done so by humans trying to create an ideal apple.

Red Delicious apples come from over 50 different apple varieties, and were made by testing different combinations. However, this apple is now used as a parent for many other apple varieties.

Red Delicious  is mainly a dark red and subtle white spot, it has a very low tartness, medium crisp, low sweetness, and medium juiciness. Overall, Red Delicious is not delicious and is actually quite bland.

Red Delicious apples grow mainly in Washington State, but can grow in similar climates. However, the apple has been on decline and other more popular apples are picked to grow instead.
